Description

When you need cost-effective, yet reliable monitoring for liquid flow switching applications, consider the KOBOLD PSR/PS Paddle Flow Switches. These simple, economical, and easily installed flow switches are designed for applications in which an electrical switching function is required once a specific flow, whether increasing or decreasing, has been achieved. They offer an adjustable switch point and are available in your choice of brass or stainless steel construction. Brass can be used with pressures up to 1450 PSIG, and stainless steel with pressures up to 3600 PSIG. All versions support temperatures up to 230°F.

Two models accommodate a wide range of pipe sizes and flow rates

For use with 1/4" to 1-1/2" pipe sizes, the Model PSR Paddle Flow Switch is an inline-style flow switch with standard NPT connections that supports switching ranges from a minimum of 0.9–1.3 GPM up to a maximum of 9.2–15 GPM. When your application involves pipe sizes from 2" to 8", the Model PS Paddle Flow Switch is an insertion-style flow switch with a 1/2" NPT connection and a switching range of 13–16 GPM minimum to 185–242 GPM maximum.

How the PSR/PS Paddle Flow Switches work

Both the PSR and PS flow switches feature a balance arm that has a leaf spring-resisted paddle at one end and a permanent magnet at the other. Flowing media causes the paddle to pivot, which in turn causes movement of the magnet. The proximity of the magnet activates a reed contact switch located in a movable, NEMA 4 plastic housing outside the PSR/PS housing. The reed switch contact is SPST standard with SPDT available as an option. Contacts can be set in the field as either normally open (N/O) or normally closed (N/C) with a simple adjustment.
